The Adventures of Dug the Dugong

 CONCEPT

The overall story arc portrays the challenges, struggles and problems created by the fragile coexistence of Deepsiders (sea and other wildlife creatures) and Upsiders (humans).

Human intrusion, pollution and dumb-dump junk are the main ‘catalysts’ of the show. 

Dug the Dugong and his friends are the ‘Cousteaudians’ of Deepside … they are the janitors, the clean-up crew … the junkyard squad trying to survive … and above all … trying to make a difference.

Their antics often highlight the damage unthinking humans do to our environment, tongue-in-cheek irreverent encounters with a mostly unseen enemy … the Upsiders (Humans … Us!)

Someone has already described the characters and Show as “the funky new Wombles”; not sure about that! But the Show is intended to be fun … slapstick … bright … original … full of visual jokes and off-the-wall zany stuff … absolutely NO preaching about the ‘environment’ … the ‘message’ will come from the Show’s landscapes, the stories, and the characters just being themselves.  

 The irony and stupidity of some Upsiders’ attitude to this fantastic planet is one enormous joke ... if we can make young kids roll on the floor with laughter by telling that joke … in the right way … then we’ve achieved something very special.
